We loved reading a story in today’s Tampa Bay Times about college students at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg helping to raise and train dogs who are part of the Southeastern Guide Dogs organization. The organization, which is based just south of here in Palmetto, has a storefront in downtown St. Petersburg on Central Avenue. You can often see volunteers walking the young guide dogs around town as they prepare them for service to those in need. It’s just another thing about St. Petersburg that makes it very special to those who live here. You can read the heartwarming story about the special student puppy raisers here.
