A little west of downtown sits the freeFall Theatre, a well-regarded stage group housed in an old Christian Scientist Church. Now the co-founder of freeFall has teamed up with an ambitious crew of Asheville, N.C., restauranteurs to create a phenomenal new dining spot in the church’s old Christian Scientist reading room space. The Reading Room might look nondescript from the outside, but inside, its decor is warm and cozy. But really, it’s the food you’re there for, and it doesn’t disappoint. Tampa Bay Times restaurant critic Laura Reiley visited the restaurant recently and is raving about it. We visited too, and loved the boiled peanuts, the mussels and the roasted and raw roots salad. Best of all, it’s a mere 10-minute drive from our location. Read the full review here, then make your reservation pronto!
